Inspector Gadget - The Beginning

Chapter XXXIV – Normal Routine Life

After solving the case in London, the family returned to Metro City, each going to their respective homes.

On the day after, Gadget, Penny and Brain went to the graveyard to put flowers on the Dollars tombs where they were inserted next to a cherry blossom tree. Watching those made the poor inspector feel ashamed for not being present on the day they got buried.

- I miss them so much. – said Penny, putting her head over her uncle’s arm.

- Me too, Penny. – he responded.

- Day by day, - she continued – it seems I keep forgetting about them. But… that’s kind of stupid because I lived with them for 8 years. I come I can’t remember a lot of them.

Covering her face with her hands, Penny started to cry of despair, until Gadget kneeled down and petted her head to calm her down, smiling to her:

- Just because you can’t remember clearly your parents doesn’t mean you don’t love them. I lost my parents when I was young and I never stop loving them. And I’m sure, right above where they are, they’re looking at us.

Happy to hear that, Penny hugged him all softly as he hugged back, with Brain getting next to them.

- Well, - she cleaned her eyes – since dr. Claw has escaped, what’re you going to do?

The inspector was going to answer, but someone who was coming by interrupted them:

- Gadget!

- Chief Quimby! – surprised Gadget by looking at his chief.

- I knew I would find you here. – smiled the chief, passing him the newspaper – You have to see this.

Grabbing it, Gadget took a look and started to read the front pages:

“The Queen, Elizabeth II, honours the famous Inspector Gadget for saving her and her kingdom from the diabolical hands of the evil dr. Claw and his M.A.D. agents, giving him a medal as a praise.” – he looked at Quimby with some confusion – Uh, chief… We already know this.

- No no! – pointed the chief – The text after that! Give it a look!

“The police of London found a dead body next to the tower of Bing Bang.” – Gadget read – “The first time they saw it they thought it was Inspector Gadget, but then they realized it was the robotic replica of him created by dr. Claw. According to the police inspector of London, the robot has fallen down the entire tower and ended up crashed on the ground.” – he looked at Quimby all surprised – So that means… Robot Gadget is… dead!

- Yes! – shouted Quimby with a huge smile – We don’t to worry about him anymore!

- True. – mention Gadget – Robot Gadget is no longer a problem. But I still have to stop dr. Claw from his evil schemes.

The chief shrugged:

- Well… that’s why I have the perfect man right here. – he putted his hand inside of his jeans pocket and took out a piece of paper – And speaking of Claw, here’s your next assignment.

Gadget grabbed it and read it out loud:

“It is suspected that dr. Claw was seen somewhere on the country of Spain. Reports say that he must be searching for the most famous treasure of Madrid. Your mission is to go to the city of Madrid and stop him. This message will self-destruct.”

After reading all that, the inspector looked at his niece with a worried expression.

- I know. – sighed the girl – Stay home with Brain and wait for you.

- Actually, - he gave a little smile to her – I was thinking on taking you with me so after my mission we could make a visit to Madrid after.

Penny’s eyes became huge of surprise, giving a huge smile to her uncle.

- R-Really?! – she shouted – Oh thank you, uncle Gadget! You’re the best!

The man gave a little blush for that then looked at Quimby with a more determined expression, crumpling the paper of the message into a ball.

- You can count on me, chief! – he saluted, throwing the paper to the chief – Inspector Gadget is always on duty! – he then turned to Penny and Brain – Come along, Penny. We got a plane to catch. Go Go Gadget Copter!

And so Gadget flew off the graveyard while holding his niece and dog, as Quimby looked at them.

- That’s good old John all right. – he nodded, until he saw the paper – Hmm… I wonder why he throw me the message back. – suddenly the paper exploded over Quimby’s face, making the man completely surprised – Not this again!

And as the days passed Gadget kept working on his missions to stop dr. Claw and M.A.D., with Penny and Brain following him in his amazing adventures to keep the world safe from the evil people.
